Frequently Asked Questions

What are your credentials?

I am a certified Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner. Functional Diagnostic Nutrition® is an official certification. FDN is an accredited training program with the American Natural Wellness Coaches Board. There are currently over 4,000+ FDN Practitioners across the world.

I am a board certified Holistic Health Practitioner through the American Association of Drugless Practitioners.

How do functional labs differ from lab work from medical practitioners?

Labs done at a hospital or with your primary care physician are looking for a diagnosis. Conventional (or Western) medicine labs are looking for serious disease that can be helped with medication or surgery. They treat the symptoms of the specific diagnosis, not the root cause of the issue.

Additionally, people who don’t feel like themselves are told that their labs are “normal”. Blood labs determine normal ranges by averaging all results of patients who have been tested at that lab, including results from pre-surgery or insurance tests. The lab ranges are changed and adjusted frequently with the declining broad population.

The FDN lab preferred ranges are a more narrow set of markers. They are representative of a health conscious community. We compare your results to FDN preferred ranges because we want our clients to reach optimal health. Comparing you to what is considered “normal” from your conventional medicine labs will not get you answers. It is not normal if you are having symptoms! Functional lab testing shows us where and how much function has been lost. FDNs use clinical correlation, client history, and lab results to determine where we need to focus our attention to create balance and restore lost function in the body.

How long does it take get achieve results?

Results will vary from person to person. If a person has been feeling ill for quite some time, then it could be a longer process to achieve their desired results. Some people notice significant results in only a couple weeks, others may take months/years depending on how long they’ve been dealing with their current symptoms.

This is an opt-in model of self care. An individual needs to be committed in order to see results. Diet and lifestyle changes hold the key to getting well and staying well naturally. Supplements alone will not make a person better.

Holistic health is not considered easy or convenient. It is not a simple, quick fix. However, battling health issues is not easy either. Going from doctor to doctor, paying bill after bill, and still not getting answers is also hard. It is ultimately your choice. You get to choose your hard.

Do I have to order a package? Can I order just one lab test?

It is not recommended. However, I would be willing to offer one test to a client with understanding of the following:

  • You will most likely not get the desired results you would like to achieve. Addressing one thing that is wrong in the body is similar to conventional medicine. What is causing the symptoms in the first place? What other bodily system is influencing those results? One dysfunction in the body builds upon another factor. If any system is out of balance, a surge of health issues will happen causing multiple symptoms which leaves the root cause unknown. Most symptoms can be the result of many problems.

  • There will be a practitioner fee added to the lab so I can interpret the results and give recommendations based off of your lifestyle/symptoms/test results.

Do you take insurance?

Functional lab testing and practitioner costs are considered alternative medicine, therefore they are not covered by insurance plans. Lab fees can be paid for with a Health Savings Account (HSA), however practitioner fees cannot be paid for with an HSA.

Do you offer payment plans?

I do not currently offer payment plans. Feel free to look into Advance Care Card if you are in need of a plan to cover costs.

Most individuals have spent a great deal of money through standard health care for years so when they reach out to me they are ready to get to the bottom of their health problems. I have no control over the lab pricing. Those lab costs go directly to the lab companies. The practitioner fees are for my time, knowledge, and effort that goes into developing a customized protocol based on your lifestyle/symptoms/lab results. The price can also hold you accountable to getting the most out of your program. I want you to be committed and get the best results!

Are there refunds?

All costs are paid up front. All sales are final, and I do not offer any money-back guarantees.

Again, FDN is an opt-in model of self care. I am here to educate you and make recommendations but it is really up to you to take action on these recommendations. I cannot guarantee results, but I assume that if you put in the work then I expect to see your main complaints get better.

It takes some money for the lab testing and coaching, as well as time and effort to see change. Time and space is needed to commit to a lifestyle program.

I can promise you that investing in your health will be a large asset to you, especially long-term.
